It was an early morning off the coast of Florida. My Daughter Marissa was fishing with her Cousin Jason and Step Grandfather Dave.
They were fishing a few miles out in about 38' of water. They were fishing over a reef and the water was clear as a bell. They could see clear to the bottom, what a beautiful sight that must have been. I can picture it now, wow!!
They set up camp and put out a chum bag. They baited there hooks with blue runners. The action began. The chum bag was employed to attract Yellow Tails, but it attracted a lot of Speedo's.
As far as I know they were using fairly light tackle, so the fights must have been adrenaline filled, exciting pulls and runs, I'm sure!!
My Daughter Marissa caught the most amount of Mangrove Snappers and the largest (pictured in photo above). The total catch was 25 Yellow Tails, 10 Mangrove's and 5 Grouper's, 1 Strawberry Mangrove was also caught.
When they pulled back in at the dock, a fellow angler mentioned how unusual it was to catch as many Mangrove's as they did, my witty daughter replied, "Yup, and it was a Girl" gotta love that reply.
Way to go Marissa, that trip sounded awesome. Dad is Proud!!
